Manchester Beethoven Orchestra
Description
In our programme this year there are quite a number of pieces we have not performed before and may be new to our audiences. In March we play two relative unknowns; unfamiliar to most of us perhaps, the Trombone Concertino by Ferdinand David but better known to trombonists and Kallinikov’s Symphony No.1 seldom heard but well worth a thorough hearing. The concert will begin with the much more familiar Symphony No. 8 by Beethoven with its sunny melodies, balletic instrumentation and textures.
