William Byrd Singers: Dido and Aeneas
Description
Join us for an unforgettable intimate concert performance of Henry Purcell's famous opera Dido and Aeneas performed from memory by choir soloists, chorus and a small baroque ensemble. Known as one of the first known English operas it tells of the love of Dido, Queen of Carthage, for the Trojan hero Aeneas, and her despair, singing When I am laid in earth, when he abandons her. This all-Purcell programme will also include My Heart is Inditing and the Chacony in G minor.
